U10s & U11s Win Playoffs, U12s & U13s Take Runner-up.

(June 2008) In a very productive weekend for the Lady Knights, our four youngest teams took home t-shirts and medals in the GAASA Spring Playoffs.

In Saturday's action, the 13s lost 2-1 to Highland in the last seconds of the championship game.

On Sunday, the 11s were the first to capture a title by defeating Wadsworth 3-1. The 10s followed with a 7-1 thumping of Highland. The 12s advanced to the final by beating Springfield in a sudden-death shoot-out, but came up short in the final and finished a hard-fought game against Wadsworth down 3-0.

During the week both of the older teams, our U14s playing in a U18 division, and our HS team, were defeated in the semi-finals.

Congratulations to all LKSC teams for qualifying for the playoffs, and special recognition to the U10s and U11s for capturing the title for the third straight season!. The U10s also were also regular season division champions.

U10s Take Runner-Up at Westlake

(May 2008). The U10s defeated Westlake Cyclones 10-0 and Avon Lake Shorty Shore Gals 10-4 to secure a spot in the Championship game.  In the final, the 10s fought hard against a fiesty Bay team to come back from a 3-0 deficit, but came up short losing to Bay 4-3.  The girls were presented plaques for their efforts.

Lady Knights Capture U10 and U11 Championship; U14 Runner-Up

(Oct. 14, 2007)  The Lady Knights captured the Fall Championships in  U10 Division 1 and U11 Division 1, as well as runner-up in U14 Division 1 of the Greater Akron Amateur Soccer Association.

In the semi-final the 10s tied Highland 4-4 in regulation after being down 4-1 at half.  They went on to the finals after winning the shoot-out 3-1.   In the finals they dominated Green and came through with a 5-1 victory.

After narrowly defeating the Strikers 1-0 in the semi-final, the U11s faced a tough Green, where they tied 2-2 in regulation, went immediately into a shoot-out, and came out victorious.

The U14s played Manchester in the semi-final game.  Although Manchester had tied LKSC in their first meeting this season and beat LKSC in the second meeting, the Lady Knights scored a goal in the first ten minutes of the game and hung on for the remaining sixty minutes to win and advance to the final.  In the final they fell to a very fast and skilled Akron Metro team.

LKSC U11 and U13 Win Wadsworth Tournament!

(September, 2007) Both the U11 and U13 Lady Knights team repeated last year's victory of the Wadsworth Frank Muhl Memorial Tournament.

The U11s kept things exciting with a tie against Wadsworth in the final game of the tournament.  Two five-minute sudden death periods were played and the two teams remained in deadlock.

Mackenzie came up "big" with some dramatic saves between the posts in the shoot-out.

The U13s dominated their division at the Wadsworth Tournament., not allowing a goal in their four games and outscoring their opponents (Wadsworth United; North Canton Stikers; Wadsworth Hurricanes; Westlake Blast) by a combined 13 - 0.

Combined U12 and U11 Win Hudson Tournament

(August, 2007)  As a season opener, a combined U12 and U11 team (with a couple of U10s as well) captured first place in the Hudson Kickoff Tournament.  Congratulations to Coach Nelsen and the players on a fine combined effort.

LKSC CAPTURES AN UNHEARD OF 5 CHAMPIONSHIPS!

(June 2007) The Lady Knights Soccer Club dominated the regular season and playoffs with three regular season division wins, five playoffs Championships and one playoff Finalist. For a club with only seven teams, this was a remarkable feat.

The Lady Knights High School team defeated Jackson 3-0 to capture the playoff championship. Playing against a strong wind in the first half, LKSC went to an extra midfielder and successfully made it to half-time with a 0-0 tie. One minute into the second half the team was awarded a direct free kick 25 yards out. Amber placed the ball perfectly over the keepers head and into the netting. In the 29th minute Lindsey won the ball at midfield and weaved her way through the Jackson defense putting LKSC up 2-0. In the first minute of stoppage time, Bridget placed a beautiful cross to the left upright where Elizabeth M. was there to head it in.

The U13 team finished the season undefeated with a 7-0-1 record scoring 32 goals and conceding only 2. They went into the playoffs knowing that they had no substitutes but were undaunted in their search for the championship. In the semi-final they defeated Wadsworth Shooting Stars 4-0 with three goals coming from Rachel and one from Kendra. Assists were from Katie and Taylor W. Facing Chippewa in the finals, the parents brought water and cups for the players to rehydrate during short breaks in the action. An all out effort by the Chippewa team kept the Lady Knights to a 1-0 lead in the first half with a goal by Sadie (Kelsey on the assist), but in the second half our team seemed to be handling the heat better than Chippewa (who had four subs) and went on to score three goals (Rachel, Sadie and Kelsey).

The U12 team entered the playoffs as the number three seed and won their semi- final game over second place Wadsworth Blast by a score of 2-1. They played a solid defensive game in beating a team that had finished ahead of them in the standings and that they had tied in the regular season. In the final they played undefeated Green, who finished the regular season 8 – 0 allowing only three goals. Green stormed to a 4 – 0 lead and appeared to have things well in hand but the U12s fought back in the second half scoring 3 unanswered goals to make it 4 – 3. The final minutes were frantic and eventually Green added an insurance goal and claimed victory, 5-3. Although they did not win the 12s managed to score as many goals against Green as they had given up in the entire season prior to the championship.

The U11 team finished first in the regular season going 7-1-0 and scoring 39 goals and giving up only nine. In the semi-finals LKSC was down 0-1 at half but came back with six unanswered goals to defeat Jackson. The final against HSDP closed with a 2-2 tie in regulation time. In the shootout, the Lady Knights went 3-0 to win with goals from Amanda, Meghan, and Stephanie, with Kelley in goal.

The U10 team finished the regular season in first place with a 7-1-0 record, scoring 36 goals and conceding only 9. Facing Wadsworth in the semi-final, goal keepers Cassie, Christin and Benita were able to hold the Galaxy to two goals while the Lady Knights scored five. In the final, they fell behind to Green 1-4, but rallied and won the game 7-5 with help from Morgan and a PK from Grace. Cassie and Christin were goal keepers.

After finishing a modest third in regular season play, the U9 Lady Knights defeated the Wadsworth Lady Grizzlies in the semi-final game 4-2. Elizabeth and Brynn each scored 2 goals. Maggie and Jessica shared the responsibility of keeping the Grizzlies at bay as goal keepers. Victory against Wadsworth was extra sweet as the U9s had yet to ever defeat Wadsworth. Facing the Lady Hornets in the championship game, our young Knights defeated the first place Highland team. Tied at 5-5 with 10 minutes to go, Elizabeth executed a driven corner kick which bounced off a Hornet defender into goal. Elizabeth didn't stop there as she scored 2 more goals to ice our victory cake!! Sarah and Brynn each scored 1 goal a piece. Final score 8-5!!

LKSC teams finished the regular season with a combined record of 37-14-5 with 212 goals scored and 85 goals scored against. Congratulations to the Lady Knights for an outstanding season and bringing home an unprecedented FIVE CHAMPIONSHIPS and a FINALIST title (out of seven teams).

U10 & U12 Take First at Wadsworth Tournament

(September, 2006) LKSC finished first in the U10 and U12 brackets, with the U14s claiming runner-up. The U9s finished well and would have captured first place if standings were counted for that age group. The U14 team beat the Stikers 5-0 and tied Alliance and Barberton to make it to the finals. They were defeated 2-0 in the final by a very fast team from Austintown. The U12s played an outstanding tournament finishing with three wins and a tie to claim first place. July 20, 2006. Congratulations to the U8 team on their inaugural season, spring 2006. The U8s played experienced U9 teams throughout the season, some of which had been together for over a year. Coached by Gary Calhoun and Jim Campbell, the team finished 3rd overall in the regular season (5-2-1). LKSC Defeats Jackson, Wins Playoff Championship

(October 2005) In a stunning upset, LKSC captured the 2005 Fall Play Off Championship from a tough, true U14 Jackson team whose core has been together many years. Although Jackson was undefeated and had beaten LKSC U14s two times this season (3-0 each time), it didn't discourage the players from producing a high energy game that ended in a tie when Sierra Thomas scored a goal from a pass from her sister Sydney late in the second half. LKSC goal keeper Samantha Campbell took control of the shoot-out and allowed only one goal in, while Sierra and Sarah Medzuich scored for the Lady Knights. The players adjusted well from their normal flat-back 4-3-3 to play Jackson with a 3-4-3. This allowed LKSC to shut down Jackson's two center mids who controlled the previous games. Late in the second half, the team transitioned to a 3-3-4 to overload Jackson's defense and score the tying goal.
