LKSC Programs

This series of programs is just part of what make the Lady Knights Soccer Club unique.  Although they are intended for members, some programs are open to any female player that wishes to participate (such as the Open Scrimmages, Camp and The 10,000 Touch Challenge).  In other programs, such as Futsal or Indoor Soccer, we may be able to accomodate an interested player depending upon club response.

Participation in these programs is usually voluntary, but in our experience players that do not participate or severly limit their participation fall behind in their development.

The LKSC Learning Zone

This section is intended for the curious U13 or U14 player who wants to increase their knowledge of the game.  Some topics are fundamental (it doesn't hurt to review it, right?) and others are very advanced.   The goal of The LKSC Learning Zone is to give LKSC players the highest level of understanding of the game which should be reflected in their play. This section is under development so please check back on occassion.

Summer Camp

LKSC sponsors a unique camp open to all local female players who play at a competitive level or desire to improve their skills to a higher level. The 2007 Summer Camp for Advanced Players was attended by over 50 players from U9 through U14.  The camp was directed by Dan Palmer with two college coaches and three female college players providing instruction.  Unlike other camps, this is a "girls only" camp and intended for the advanced player.  Below are some photos taken during the camp.

The 10,000 Touch Challenge

Improve your foot skills by completing The 10,000 Touch Challenge.  This program was developed several years ago and is one of the key factors to our continued success.  Players completing the challenge receive a t-shirt commemorating their efforts.  Players completing the program twice receive a "20,000 Touch" t-shirt - and yes, we are now working on a 30,000 shirt!

Please download all three files.  The "Intro" file contains the rules and a sample log sheet.  The "routines" have four different routines that you can use and the "log sheets" allow you to track your efforts.  Classes for this program are conducted on request.  Typically a player can learn enough moves to complete the program in under an hour.

The 10,000 Touch Challenge is copyrighted material by Ted Goeltz and can be used with permission by other clubs and individuals provided that no fees are charged other than to cover the cost of printing or copying.  Please acknowledge the source as "Lady Knights Soccer Club - Medina, OH".

Open Scrimmages

Open Scrimmages are sponsored by LKSC during the summer on Tuesday nights.  It's a great way to see your friends over the summer and an opportunity to play with older and younger players. This program is open to non-LKSC players as well. Here are some photos from the scrimmages in the summer of 2007 courtesy of Scott Stefka.

LKSC Futsal

Last year we piloted this program with the U9s and the U13s.  Although the sessions were limited, the progress seen was encouraging and we decided to make it an official program this winter.  Futsal is soccer that is played in a gym with a "dead" feeling soccer ball.  Because of the lack of response from the ball, it is easy to control, allowing players to focus more on tactical play rather than struggle with the technical skills.

We will be offering multiple sessions during the winter that you can sign up for.  Each session will be limited to nine players so we can play 3v3 with three resting. There may be a slight cost associated with the program to offset the gym costs. Check out our Futsal page by clicking here.

Indoor Soccer

From November through May, LKSC fields teams for indoor soccer. Most teams participate at Springside Soccer, conveniently located in the Montrose-Fairlawn area.  U9/U10 games are normally Saturday mornings, U11/U12 on Friday nights, U13/U14 on Wednesdays and the high school plays on Sunday afternoons.  Usually a player does not have to commit to a complete 10-game session and we try to work around other winter conflicts, such as basketball games.  Interested players within and outside of the club should contact the appropriate coach in early October.
